“Georgia based producer, Bearhead A.K.A Alexander Aultman, is all set to release his Collective Resonance debut, DTB (Dirty Tape Beats), on December 7th 2014. This also happens to be his 21st birthday. The project consists of a collection of beats he has created between late 2013 and mid 2014. To shed some light on the creative process going into the album, Alex tells us that he was mainly manipulating sounds and samples using his MPC and laptop. He was blending both analogue and digital techniques, in order to create these densely lo-fi, yet polished sounding instrumentals. These are the result of transferring the live mixes onto cassette tapes, with the intention of revisiting them later and adding some final touches on the computer. Though the album has a very decayed sound, Alex has expressed that the cassette was responsible for only part of the overall sound of DTB, as many of the sounds were also drenched in multiple effects.
