“This album is a “mix-tape” in the most traditional sense of the term. I was recording some sets onto tape using two Technichs 1200’s and a Vestax mixer, when I captured a very smooth set one day consisting of all Jazz records, and Jazz infused Hip Hop tracks. I then took the set and recorded it into my laptop where I continued to add a few more passes over it with an MPC2500, and SP-303 samplers. After adding a few stacks of drum beat and melodic chops and loops over the piece I did a final pass of scratching, and vocal narration snippits thus Jazzmatic was created. The entire mix was then re-recorded to tape, and converted back into a digital file to give it an authentic vibe and texture….without further ado Prozak Morris+Jazz+Hip-Hop+= Jazzmatic.
