Introducing Singaporean beatmaker, DJ, label manager and architect(!), Funk Bast*rd. As if he hasn’t got enough on his hands he still finds the time to produce a stunning mix of beats n’ riddims covering every BPM under the sun. Exclusive to Beatnik, this has to be one of the freshest mixs we’ve been graced with, every track is ripe with flavour.
We first came across Funk Bast*rd and his Darker Than Wax imprint with their All Star compilation, hosting a fine selection of DTW artistes and affiliates. DTW is home to prolific 28 musical minds including Beatnik favourites Midnight Runners, NeguimBeats, JayLotus, Millo Mill$, Jaël and Samuel Truth – which alone covers Indonesia, Brazil, USA, Austria, Holland and New Zealand. There are no limits to DTW, not even the seven seas can stand in their way as they continue to uncover more musical minds of the universe.
Furthermore, DTW’ latest project focuses on the rising beatmakers of Asia. Assembly Point is a series of compilations in which DTW collaborates with musical collectives around Asia to bring the latest from their respective locations.
