I’m a regular on soundcloud and first heard of multi talented UK emcee Conflicthiphop from there as well as his work with many of my personal fave beatmakers. From his delivery of story telling and relatable topics that is evident on the albums and tracks he releases, Conflicthiphop has recently come out with his new album Voice of the Unheard showcasing his continued growth as an artist. After listening to this album and reading the intro in his own words which you can read below, I feel this album accomplished not only revealing the frustration to be heard as an individual artist, but also a strength and energy of unity to hopefully inspire to retain the love of the art…Enjoy! download, share, &1love.
“Voice of the Unheard is for the modern artist in all of us. Our passion for what we do. The hurdles we have to jump. The self doubt we battle with to keep going, despite being ‘unheard’. Our struggle for integrity and value in what we do. The fact we continue with our effort despite not receiving recognition, like a track we may have online with only 10 plays, when it could be seen by millions, or a piece of art that hangs on a wall, without anyone ever seeing its real worth. When i started this album it was a very different theme, with a different name. It was to be a five track ep, produced entirely by Chef Beat who i had worked with in 2012 on the track ‘Dear Hip Hop’. The original working title was ‘Life is a Buffet’. This is still evident on the first track i recorded for the album ‘Who am I’ where i reference it in the hook. Once i started writing for the ep, it became evident i had more to say than i thought and the message of the album morphed in to what is is now. I was frustrated with recent changes on Soundcloud, and my own passion for music seemed to be fading… possibly from overworking on music and releasing too much too soon. I had spent a lot of time making music videos for Youtube but hadn’t really seen enough reward to continue, and was generally feeling flat. As i researched the theme and explored my own thoughts on paper, i would see the same problems all around. Speaking to others in the same position i realised it was something we could all relate to, regardless of our actual art. Voice of the Unheard is for everyone struggling, doubting, but believing.”
