The third EP release by DZA, Moscow beatmaker and co-owner of independent record label How2make which specializes in electronic and hip-hop related music releasing music by his own friends and himself, describes Surrender.ep as:
slapping tunes of instrumental Hip Hop and electronic Pop music. By times minimal and percussive, often SURRENDER.ep sounds bright and catchy. DZA draws inspiration from crunk and UK bass music but sounds never like anything else but DZA. Part for the edgy, transparent production, part for the samples he uses (videogames, dogs, his baby son), part for the naïve melodies- SURRENDER finds the Russian producer in great shape and makes this EP a proper album rather plain collection of tracks.
Remixes come from NYC’s Shigeto who adds haunting synth textures underneath the razor-sharp, bass-heavy beats of ‘Finger Snaps’. Fellow producer Mujuice approaches ‘Surrender’ from another angle. His remix is an upbeat Pop hymn that should put clubs all over the world bouncing head-over-heels immediately.
Enjoy, share, & 1love.
