Damu The Fudgemunk is releasing the instrumental version of his group Y Society’s debut LP, Travel At Your Own Pace, in Late November on Redefinition Records (CD/Vinyl) & Tres Records (Digital).
KMD (Kausing Much Damage, or A Positive Kause in a Much Damaged Society) was a hip hop trio in the early 1990s, best known for launching the career of acclaimed rapper and producer MF DOOM, who at the time was known as Zev Love X. Other members of the group were Rodan and DJ Subroc–Zev Love X’s younger brother. When Rodan chose to finish high school instead of continue working with the group Zev Love X and DJ Subroc brought in Onyx the Birthstone Kid to fill in the vacant rapping position.

Dublab Dublab directors Bryan “Morpho” Younce & Mark “frosty” McNeill sent beatmakers Daedelus, Nobody, J.Rocc and Ras G on safari into L.A. thrift stores with orders to make new music out of five finds while the cameras filmed the whole process. The result is a mini-documentary about putting new life into old vinyl. Over 2 hours of footage, music & bonus material.
Here is a Nextmen mix I discovered/remembered about the other day. I remember seeing it in some urban clothing shop in Covent Garden a few years ago, but didn’t buy it, probably because there was no tracklisting and I didn’t really know what it was all about. I wish I had, because at the time it was probably about £10 or £15, but now it’s worth between £50 and £70 (see for yourself on Amazon).
Kevin Forrester better known as MC Eksman is a Drum and Bass musician, originally born in Brockley, South London in 1980. Eksman started his career back in 1996 and spent many years writing, polishing his performance and enhancing his lyrics until launching himself into the forefront of the Drum and Bass scene. His first big break came in 2003, when he got he was recognised as ‘Best Newcomer’ at both industry favourite Knowledge Magazine awards as well as the Accelerated Culture awards. Here is one of Skream’s latest releases, Burning Up! It’s actually more Jungle than Dubstep (Skream being primarily a Dubstep producer) and it’s really just a remix of Cloud 9 – You Got Me Burnin’ released on Moving Shadow in 1993. What a remix it is though! The classic sound of Jungle crossed with the dirty bass of Dubstep.
