(Audio) DJ Muro – Hot Dog Mix (Mixtape)

Incredible! Part 2 Blue Note Mixtape……
Japan’s Beat Digger Supreme DJ Muro has quite a collection of breaks mixes out. From soul to funk to disco to reggae when it comes digging like Rakim said he “ain’t no joke”. The tracklisting below is the only one I could find and I do know some artists names but others, due to time restraints, I couldn’t track down. So I decided to leave the tracklisting as is.

(Audio) MUD Family – MUD Family E.P

Mud Family is a north London-based UK hip hop crew formed by Skinnyman, Mongo and Chester P in the 1990s. They released a number of EPs and singles on vinyl, including the classic Itchy Town. Over time, Mud Fam’s membership expanded to include Mr Tibbs, Uncle Festa, SuparNovar, Nassar, Farma G, Little D (aka Sincere), Mosey and Nebular. The expanded line-up released the Mud Family EP in 2002 but since then have been quiet as a collective. Skinnyman found solo success in 2004 with his solo album’s release on Lowlife Records, while Chester P has been concentrating on the music he produces with his brother Farma G as Taskforce. Mongo, meanwhile, has kept a very low profile in the scene since the release of a controverial dis record aimed at Blak Twang, entitled “Blak Twat”. The largest success from any of the other crew members has belonged to Sincere, for the single “That’s Not Gangsta”, which received (relatively) heavy radio and TV airplay.

(Audio) MRR-ADM – 10” E.P

These guys are a bit of a mystery – something to do with Malcolm Catto, something to do with Heliocentrics? But maybe not? – but this came out a few weeks back as an amazing 10″ with no info/label/track list on the record, just a cool red & tin paste-on sleeve (old school) and red vinyl.

(Audio) Afro Rock – Music Dewolfe

An album that is seen on every library wants list and is definitely well worthy of such an accolade. Composed by P. Reno and L. Vecchio, we are treated to ten tracks of pounding, funky afro-influenced rock and, to be honest, its a great album from start to finish and be left on the turntable to run from start to finish. Highlights would have to be the ultra-heavy drums and horns-a-plenty of “Megaton” and the extended workout of “Green Hell” that is more afro-jazz-rock in its styling, especially in the scoring of the flute and horn solos.

(Audio) The Meters – Meters

One of the greatest albums ever in the history of funk — the first album by The Meters, and virtually the blueprint for countless funk records to come! The album’s bubbling over with classics — all hard-hitting instrumentals played by the group in an effortlessly tight style, produced to perfection by Allen Toussaint and Marshall Sehorn in their classic 60s New Orleans style. A blinding masterpiece of bass, drums, and scratchy guitar — with tracks that include “Cardova”, “Cissy Strut”, “Sophisticated Cissy”, “Here Comes The Meter Man”, “Ease Back”, “Ann”, “6V6 La”, and “Live Wire”.
